Treatments For Depression

One of the largest cases of mental illnesses, ever recorded is that of depression. This ailment is said to destroy the peaceful protocol of living a healthy life. Adults, as well as teenagers, can suffer from depression, due to various unknown sources. Depression urges humans to kill themselves, making them less sociable, resulting in psychological disorders. One of the major causes of depression that doctors are sure of is the lack of sympathy and hope! Once humans find that they are longer loved or required in the society, a sudden numbness falls over, resulting in a state of acute depression!

Cures for depression!

Depression isn’t a disease. It’s a form of mental state, whose approach varies in nature. Under normal situations, consulting a depression doctor will help. Even antidepressants and forms of psychotherapy can get rid of the symptoms of depression. When coming to some of the most traditional treatments that are known to cure depression, doctors talk of ECT. Known as electroconvulsive therapy or even shock therapy, patients likely come out of their bad trauma and start to regain back their lost memory.

While the condition of depression is different, the treatments of depression and their equivalent results also vary in nature. While some patient’s recorded inadequate or negative response with ECT, another effective treatment known as TMS or Trans-cranial magnetic stimulation was focused upon!

What is TMS?

TMS is nothing but a form of ‘’brain simulation’’ treatment. Here, the process of regaining back of confidence is done, by paying attention to the nervous system in the human body. Specific nerve areas are targeted and magnetic radiations are inserted. This helps in reducing the powerful side effects of depression. The strong magnetic field created helps further in reducing any form of pain or suicidal tendencies in depression patients.

While this treatment is said to bring positive results in more than 80% of depression patients, some often complain of constant headaches. However, this condition lessens with time and the individual stands hearty and healthy! Another rare side effect that only 2% of depression patients are diagnosed with is seizures. TMS might be inappropriate for persons, who are suffering from epilepsy, any kind of head injury or just neurological concerns. Therefore, before TMS starts, a thorough check-up is essential, where the patient’s medical history is consulted before anything serious takes place!

What does TMS therapy look like?

It takes more than 60 minutes to complete one session of TMS. Depression patients with symptoms of inner mental trauma were mostly targeted with this treatment. The doctors determined the intensity of the magnetic rays that suited the individual. On the basis of its tolerance level, the simulation coil was indicated and the rays were targeted to the brain. The effectiveness of treating depression with TMS was finally noticeable after the patient took at least five to six sessions. However, a feeling of relaxation, followed by less anxiety and physical pain was followed after each session!

The picture of Trans-cranial magnetic simulation: Does it really have a positive effect?

Over the years, patients with depression have failed to recover from the situation, even after experiencing adequate medications. Overcoming depression with TMS or Transcranial magnetic simulation successfully worked for 80% of patients, thanks to the newly improved ways of indicating the symptoms and treating them accordingly. For any kind of mood disorder, mental trauma, etc., TMS worked with full confidence. The magnetic ways injected into the body normalized the senses and restored back one’s memory. Stabilization of nerve cells was also noticed in a few patients. On average, the response with TMS was pretty amazing.

Treating other disorders with TMS:

Apart from curing all forms of depression, TMS is also known to cure other forms of mental diseases as well. They are:

  • Bipolar disorders
  • Post-traumatic condition
  • Stress disorders
  • Pediatric depression’
  • Drug abuse
  • Smoking issue

Therefore, before TMS is finalized, make sure that you follow your doctor’s recommendations and start working on restoring body functions. This will not only reduce stress during the treatment but manage your mental health in a better way. While the research on TMS is still going on, patients start to feel a lot more positive with life, by availing these treatments!
